Exploring truth and justice in a group performance

The Unit 3/4 VCE Drama students recently performed “50 Shades of Justice”, a play we created from a stimulus structure with a few images and some words. It was a long but extremely fun process. The play explored justice and truth through two murder mysteries and showcased how justice was dealt with in the past, compared to now.

We started our planning process last year, doing lots of brainstorming and research over the summer holidays and getting excited about our play. We were all very committed to this play; we held multiple before and after school rehearsals and even had a rehearsal in the term holidays to prepare for our big show!! After countless hours of scripting, editing and rehearsing we were all very happy with the final outcome. We took lots of inspiration from film noir and Agatha Christie for our past scenes and even featured the 86 tram and an ‘eshay’ in our performance!!!

As a Year 12 class (with 2 really cool Year 11s in there too), this is our last time doing a group performance so it was very emotional but I am so so proud of everyone. We put on a great show!! Shoutout to Akira Ellis and Mr McLeod who were our amazing lighting/sound techies - they did a phenomenal job and we are so grateful. Also a big BIG thanks to Ms Bastian. We truly could not have done the show without you. Now our 3/4 class will start unit 4 and begin to work on our solo performances. We thank everyone who came to watch and hope you had a great night!!!
