From the Principal

This is the last Newsletter for Term 2 and I would like to thank all of the students and staff for their contributions throughout the Term. In particular, I would like to highlight the Sports reports that we receive each fortnight. We have had so many successes and so many involved in the program throughout this Term and I really enjoy the way the students communicate the passion and commitment they have for their sport and the team that they competed with. Perhaps it is the influence of our Year 9 ‘Language of Sport’ Northcote Model elective that assists them with their writing and it is a pleasure to read them, even if I do not understand straight away some of the terms such as a ‘pen’ in soccer (it is short for penalty!).

Our Music students have been very busy this year, we have had 3 camps that many of our ensembles have participated in and they have all been consistently rehearsing together in preparation for our Mid-year Concert celebrations. I look forward to the concerts this week, seeing the improvement that our intermediates are making and enjoying seeing many of our students overcoming their nervousness to perform to their best.

All of our year levels have been completing end of unit assessment tasks. Our Year 11s had a very successful Exam period and our teachers have been busy providing feedback on all of the year levels that they teach. This afternoon our Year 9s Semester 1 City School classes presented their research to students and families. It was great to hear them talk about the skills that they have learnt through their involvement.

Our teachers will appreciate the Feedback, Assessment and Reporting Day this Thursday to ensure that reports are completed for publishing before the holiday break. The day also coincides with the General Achievement Test (GAT) for the majority of our senior students. Please remember that this is a pupil free day for the rest of the school.

Being a busy time of term for our Senior Students, it was great for them to have Destress Day today and enjoy a range of activities, music and food trucks with each other and their tutors. Well done to our Senior Captains and Senior Sub School in bringing this today, you can see more about the day in this newsletter.

I am looking forward seeing many of you at one of our concerts this week or at the Talkfest event in the last week of term.
