What a term it has been for us all! I would like to begin by acknowledging the amazing work undertaken by our staff throughout this term to deliver a comprehensive and engaging teaching and learning programme to the children. To our students, thank you for fully immersing yourselves in all of the teaching and learning experiences and for always striving to be your best selves.
Our build continues to progress and we are excited to announce that we are hopeful of receiving access to some of our new learning spaces mid next term. This will mean that we are able to have all children in a stand-alone classroom throughout the second semester. A further update will be provided at the beginning of next term.
Congratulations to the wonderful Linda Willshire on her recognition of 35 years of service with the Department of Education. Linda has held many roles during her time at Fitzroy North Primary School and we look forward to many, many more years to come.
Next term will also see the reintroduction of the FNPS tutoring program across the school. This program, like in previous years, provides students with an intensive learning program over an 7-8 week teaching period. Our first tranche of students next term will be our Year 2 students, with the program providing both intervention and extension support. Later this year, we will work with our Year 4 students, followed by our Year 1s and 3s. Upon completion of the intensive learning program, classroom teachers are provided with guidance on how they can continue to support and extend students within the classroom.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of Nicole, Emily and Toby. They effortlessly spend their time fielding parent queries and concerns, along with managing the day to day ups and downs of the school and the build. They really are at the coalface and I can’t thank them enough for their commitment to the school.
I wish you all a safe a restorative term break and I look forward to seeing you all back in Term 3!
Go gently,
Tania
