Concussion, Concussion, Concussion

Term 3 is a busy time of year emotionally and physically for everyone, especially children who are involved in traditional winter sports competitions.  Finals, grand finals, pressure to win games, the disappointment of losing, the elation of winning, the tears, the blisters, the sprains and strains, the celebrations, and the list goes on…..  So with all this excitement happening in the next couple of weeks, I would like to ensure that all families are familiar with the concussion policy and procedure document that the Department of Education and Royal Childrens’ Hospital have compiled based on “best practices and recent research”  for all schools to be compliant with. MPS  has been implementing this policy since Term 2 with the majority of families being receptive, accepting and grateful for the clear instructions, level of staff communications and support provided to them whilst their child is recovering from a concussion diagnosis.

The Concussion Policy and procedure document is now available via this link

and or can be accessed via the COMPASS message sent to all parents/careers/guardians.

Please take some time to read this document. It is an important policy and procedure document that is not negotiable, are not guidelines and cannot be misinterpreted.

Thank you
