'Creating Futures Together'

Please enjoy listening to this performance from our Percussion Ensemble, who were our opening act at the recent Winter Music Showcase.

We are proud of what our instrumental students have achieved this term, through their performances at our Soirees and Music Showcase. Next semester we look forward to also sharing our music with the wider community.

WINTER MUSIC SHOWCASE

It was wonderful to see so many people come and support our students at the Winter Music Showcase on Wednesday evening. We heard fantastic performances from the Percussion Ensemble, The Unsociable (VET Music Band), Guitar Ensemble, Stage Band, Choir, Year 7 Concert Band and M01 (VET Music Band). This event could not happen without our amazing instrumental teachers David Gill, Annie Stone, Leigh Collins, Jeremy Schiftan and Yael Zamir, who run weekly rehearsals with these groups. Our students are continuing to grow in their confidence as musicians and performers, and we look forward to providing them with more performance opportunities throughout the year.

Wheelers Hill's Own VCE VET Music Band Invited backstage at The Push All-Ages Tour

A special shout-out to our VCE VET Music band, M01, who were recently invited by Monash City Council to come backstage in the exciting Push All-Ages Tour event.

On Friday, 26th May, the music-filled extravaganza took place at Clayton Hall, featuring performances from some of Australia's up and coming artists, such as Munchy Dolphin, The Vovos, and Kitty Rae, and headlined by the extremely popular King Stingray.

The Push All-Ages Tour is a commendable initiative to celebrate youth music, providing a supervised, all-ages, drug, alcohol, smoke and vape-free environment. The event is delivered with the support of Monash Youth Services, Quiksound Productions, and the Victorian Government, as part of the On The Road Again program.

Members of our band, Abigail, Sophia, Gabby, and Sanober, had the incredible opportunity to meet The Vovos backstage for a Q+A session. They asked insightful questions about overcoming stage fright, refining practice routines, and acquiring gigs. This interaction provided our students with valuable insights into the workings of the music industry.

But the night didn't end there. They also had the privilege to watch amazing performances in the front row from the artists, including The Vovos. The night reached its crescendo with King Stingray, a band renowned for blending indigenous language with rock to create a captivating musical experience.

It was a night to remember for M01. This experience not only exposed them to the realities of the music industry but also provided a platform to interact with industry professionals and gain firsthand insights. It was indeed an enriching experience for our future musicians.
