Mr. David Browne
We are pleased to welcome Mr Josh Willersdorf to our school team, who commenced with us on February 28th. After 11 years at Murrayville, Josh is delighted to be joining our teaching staff as a Health and PE teacher. He will also be our Year Nine Year Level Co-ordinator.
We do still have some vacancies on our staff, which is frustrating for all. Unfortunately, we are not alone, with dozens of schools across Victoria with teaching vacancies at the moment. We will continue to strive to complete our staffing. I am extremely grateful for the massive efforts of our current teaching team who are all doing their very best to cover all classes and provide a quality program.
We have had many students at Red Cliffs Secondary College over a number of years who have completed an SBAT (School Based Apprentice Traineeship) with other companies and businesses across Sunraysia, but on Friday we did something for the very first time - we offered an SBAT to one of our students to work for us. Congratulations to Lucy Lines of year 12 who will work on her Certificate IV in Community Services, completing the work placement aspect of her apprenticeship at our Mildura reengagement campus FLO Connect.
Congratulations to Lucy on this appointment. We are so pleased to be able to provide this opportunity for one of our own students.
Please note that Friday March 18th will be a Pupil Free Day - no students will be required at school. On this day staff will be completing professional learning. A reminder to parents and students that it is NOT ok for our students to go back to their primary school when we have a pupil free day - they have their own students to be working with and are not legally responsible for students who have left their school.
The delayed centenary celebrations for the establishment of the township of Red Cliffs will be occurring on the 1st - 4th April. As part of our contribution, we will be holding an open school for tours on Friday April 1st, between 4.30 and 6pm. As well as a chance for parents and past students to see how the school has changed, we will have some memorabilia on display. 2022 is also our 60th anniversary of our school on this site, so we will be marking this occasion at the same time. Another date for your calendar - especially if you (or anyone you know) is a former student or staff member of the school.
