Positive Climate for Learning

Grade 2 Learning Community

Grade 4 Learning Community

To begin the year in Grade 4, we have been looking at the question ‘How can I be the best version of me?’

This question has led to some great discussions about how much sleep we need to have so that we can focus on our school work, when we should be using our screens at night and how to pack healthy lunch boxes.

One of our main focuses has been on keeping ourselves safe, and listening to our body’s messages. Students in Grade 4 have been encouraged to identify ‘safe people’ in their lives that they can talk to when times are hard, or they feel unsafe. We have investigated healthy foods for our mind and body and created posters on packing a healthy lunchbox. Students identified what their own body might experience if they are feeling unsafe and warning signs to help them identify an unsafe situation. We looked at the zones of regulation and ways we can calm our bodies and minds down when feeling angry or upset in the red zone.

We would love families to continue to have these important conversations with their children, and share some positive ways that they relax, feel calm and stay healthy!

Grade 6 learning Community

In Grade 6 we have been learning about prime and composite numbers. We have been investigating the relationship between multiplication and division to list factors and what makes a number prime or composite.

We have been using Google Classroom to support our learning, along with Mathletics as part of our Maths fluency each day.

In Health we have been studying the brain, and how it works. We have learnt about the 4 lobes and the role each plays in our brain's function. We have been learning about growth mindset and character strengths, and how we display these daily at school.
