Principal's Report

by David Lord

2022 is a vitally important year for all of our students after the disruption of online learning over the past two years. We have a strong focus on catching students up in their academic learning, and developing their social and emotional wellbeing. I am really pleased with how this is going for the majority of our students so far this year. As we head into the last month of Term 1 there are three key ways in which we can keep this going.

  • It is really important that students attend school every day, as long as they are healthy, so they do not miss key parts of their learning or opportunities to engage in the life of the school.
  • In class teachers will be working to target teach students at their point of need. To do this effectively students need to keep up to date with their learning interactions so that teachers know exactly what they can do and what their next steps are. Parent Teacher Student Conferences at the end of term 1 are a great way for us to come together to see how this is going.
  • Outside of class it is important for students to get involved in the wide range of opportunities to follow their interests and passions such as lunchtime clubs, sport etc. Next weeks Cultural Diversity Week is a great example of this.

I am particularly looking forward to meeting parents at our Year 7 Meet and Greet BBQ on Wednesday to see how their children’s experience has been so far this year.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
