Science News

Wow! What a week! Did you know that it was Science Week last week? As a celebration, students enjoyed watching The Scientific Bubble Show with Marty McBubble. It was an interactive and interesting show and all the students enjoyed themselves.

We had some guests in Science last week. 20 snails visited the STEM room and the Junior Primary students had lots of fun handling and observing them as well as drawing a labelled diagram. The Year 6/7s even got to watch a snail race!

Rooms 7 and 8 did a plant experiment to see whether plants need light to grow. Ask your child to see if they know what the verdict was!

The middle primary students got a special visit from a bee keeper. They even got to try a bee keeper’s suit on and taste 100% organic honey.

What an exciting week of science we’ve had! Keep up the good work, West Beach!

Book Week Parade

We hope all the students had a fabulous book week. It was fantastic to see everyone dressed up and enjoying our parade around our local community. Please see photos attached.

Bubble Show

On Tuesday 24th August, Marty McBubble came to visit our school for Science week. Here are some recounts from Room 3 about our incursion..

Pop! Pop! Pop! On Tuesday 24th August we went to the scientific bubble show. There were lots of different cool magic bubble tricks. I thought the coolest bubble trick was when the bubble turned into a cube. Chris (year 2)

Blob! Blob! Blob! We were watching Marty McBubble do the bubble show! First, he showed us about bubbles. Then he showed us if you changed the shape of the bubble blower it wouldn't change the shape of the bubble. Samuel (year 2)

Bubble! Bubble! Bubble! The sound of West Beach Primary School starting the bubble show. Molly (year 2)

Pop! Pop! Pop! What was that? I think it was a bubble. Did you know if you use soft material you can make a bubble bounce? Sophie (year 1)
