From the Principal

Term 3, Week 6, Kevin Kennedy

Dear Families,

Book Week-Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds

Book Week is always a highlight of our calendar.  Its good opportunity to promote the joy of reading and also a fun time for the students and staff to dress up as their favourite character from a book . There were some fantastic costumes and the students and really enjoyed themselves. I would like to thank all the parents and family members who helped put their child’s costume together. I would also like to thank Denise Murison for all her efforts over the last few weeks, her hard work helped Book Week be the success it was.

Classroom Observations

The leadership team is currently spending time in classrooms observing teachers in a range of subject areas. The purpose of the observations is to provide teachers feedback on a chosen teaching strategy they would like to examine and or to develop. Some of the strategies  include; meaningful student feedback, differing work levels to meet a range of abilities (differentiation)  and explicit teaching of the curriculum.  The discussions with staff have been constructive and of mutual benefit. Leaders are gaining  a greater insight into what is happening in classrooms and teachers are receiving feedback on a specific identified area of their practice. It has also been enjoyable to see our students engaged with their learning.

Soccer Delegate Position

Sally Linke is standing down from the position after doing a sterling job for the last few years. We are grateful for all of Sally’s hard work and for her high level organisational skills. We have 84 students currently representing the school in soccer teams (amazing) but for that to continue we need a volunteer soccer delegate. Sally is willing to mentor whoever takes on the role, they won’t be thrown into the position without any support. If you are interested please contact me.

If you have any queries or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Kevin Kennedy
