The Show Must Go On!

The Production Team has been working hard behind the scenes to continue planning for our School Production ‘Matilda’. The plan is to perform the show at Collingwood Town Hall on Tuesday 31 August and Wednesday 1 September

We hope to be able to perform our show to a live audience, however, if capacity limits are still in place, we plan to film the performance at Collingwood Town Hall during the day and screen the show to our school community at a later date at a cinema venue or Coburg Drive-In. We will not start selling tickets until we are advised that the venue can include an audience.

Costumes

Yesterday notices were sent out on Compass outlining costume requirements for each class. Lead roles will receive their own personalised costume notice. Louisa Emslie has been on the hunt for costume items for our lead roles too.

Some classes require a production t-shirt. These shirts have been designed to look like a school shirt including a tie and pocket with the Crunchem Hall emblem. The back of this shirt will include the class and first names of every student at CNPS. All students at CNPS will be able to purchase one of these t-shirts as a piece of memorabilia of the show. More details about the shirts will be communicated soon. Thank you to Mary D’Cruz for designing these shirts.

Call Out for Grey Blazers or Suit Jackets

The lead roles that play the Little Kids in ‘Matilda’ require a School Blazer as part of their costume. We are asking if any families happen to have a grey blazer or suit jacket that they are happy to donate for the production to please let us know.

Backdrop Competition

When we perform our school productions we project student drawings of the backdrop for each scene at the back of the stage. This year one of our parents, Denise Atallah, would like to sponsor a competition for the best backdrop. We are encouraging all of our CNPS students to create their own artistic impression of any of the following scenes. Denise will be running a backdrop drawing workshop at lunchtime on Thursday 12 August to assist any of our budding artists with their drawings. The student who draws the best backdrop will win a hamper of art supplies.

Here are the backdrops that we need for the show:

A Birthday Party for Miracle

Matilda’s Bedroom
