The students have also been enjoying the Book Week Activities organised by Jess.

Here the students were playing 'Crack the Code', using the pictures and clues to identify one of the Shortlisted Books. Jabob was our star decoder, he had many of the answers while the rest of us were decoding the first line.

To celebrate Book Week this week, the Year Preps and Year 1s had a special live Meet with Kate Griffiths from Darebin Libraries. Kate read the students some of the different Book Week books and showed them some of her marvellous Book Week costumes.

Year 3/4 Lockdown 6 Reflections

I feel very tired at this time  because I have to do way more chores, way more often. I also feel happy because I get free time. I also am thinking about what dog to get because my mum and dad said we could get a dog.          By Amelia

Being in Lockdown has a good side and a bad side for me. The bad side is that I get so bored no matter how many different things I do. Whether I watch shows or movies, make crafts, play with toys, I always get bored easily. From the time we gave away Breezy, (my bird) I’ve always felt bored and a bit lonely. When I had Breezy, I would have so much fun playing with her but now, I’ve always felt a bit empty.

But the good side about being in lockdown is that I get to spend time with my family more. When we were back at school, I would come home tired or if I wasn’t, I would just do my own things. But now that we’re in Lockdown, I get to do all sorts of things with my family. We play games, watch movies, talk about ongoing things and other things.

One thing I learnt during this Lockdown is typing. I am also learning how to type fluently and how to not look at my hands while typing.

I hope we get to go back to school soon and hopefully we won’t have another lockdown.

By Hansvi

Lockdown is very boring but you can learn things from it. Right now I feel very weird. I can't get much exercise. I think going to school is better for me and other people that are like me.

I feel very tired of the Lockdown every day. It's very annoying, but I learned a few things on the computer because of Lockdown and learning things is like you are exploring and you find things.

The most wonderful thing that has happened to me in Lockdown happened a few months ago. I got a gaming keyboard and gaming mouse from the same company, the company’s called Alienware. It sells a lot of other gaming accessories like monitors / gaming monitors, headphones / gaming headphones and a lot of other things.

I’m also grateful to my dad for getting the Alienware gaming keyboard and Alienware gaming mouse.          By Aryan

I am feeling ok about Lockdown but I really need to take a break and go out to a carnival maybe and have fun for a day. It's been really tough since Lockdown has started.

I am grateful for my mum because she makes food for me when I am hungry. I am also grateful to my dad for taking care of me when I see weird people at shops sometimes. What I really wish is that we will have no more Lockdown soon.         By Chen

Throughout this Lockdown, it’s been really boring at times.  Something that helped me was drawing and starting a new sketchbook and having fun if I feel sick because I sleep with my windows and balcony open. Besides that I'm really happy!

The worst part of Lockdown is that there's really bad protests! The best part of lockdown is you can experience new things!!          By Sheen

In Lockdown 6, I feel happy and sad. I am happy because I can spend more time with my family. I enjoy Remote Learning because I can have breaks more often and I can sleep in and I don't need to travel to school. The best part of my day is doing my school work and getting the questions correct.

I am grateful for my mum during this time because she helps me in Remote Learning and she takes care of me all day. I am also grateful for my dad. He helps me a lot with my homework.

I am sad because I can't see my friends at school and I miss playing with them. I can’t see my teachers at school and we can't go out to lot of places and sometimes staying home gets a little bit boring.

In this Lockdown, I have improved a lot in my typing skills while doing my online work. I started to read more story books and whenever I get more time I play games with my parents and sometimes we do exercises together.

I am really thankful to my parents because they help me with my studies and when I feel alone or miss my friends they treat me like a friend. I hope the lockdown will end soon so we can go back to a normal life.          By Yash

Lockdown has made me feel sad because I can’t see my friends and family. I'm grateful for me being able to spend more time with my dog and my mum. I'm grateful for my mum helping me when I'm struggling on something. This makes it harder for my mum because she is working all day. I've learnt to be more patient when my mum is working. And I love playing with my dog when my mum is on meetings.          By Connor

During this Lockdown, I’ve been feeling happy, sad and annoyed. I feel happy that when Ethan and I get together online, we can play the game Fortnite. I feel sad because I can’t see my school friends as much, only when I am at school. I am annoyed because with Lockdown we can’t go anywhere.

During this Lockdown, I’ve learnt how to juggle tennis balls against a wall.

One of the worst things that has happened to me in this Lockdown, is that the restrictions, like not going to the park and not visiting anyone makes me a bit frustrated. I  also really want the restrictions to ease.          By Jaxon

In Lockdown 6 I am feeling sad, mad, angry and depressed. I can’t see my friends and my cousins and I miss playing with them. But I am happy because I can spend more time with my family. It was a sad day in my life when I couldn't see my teachers at school. But it was actually good to be with my family in lockdown so it was also a good time in my life.

By Michael

During this Lockdown I felt upset because I could not see all my friends. But I had more space so I really liked it. That and being at school sometimes, is still fun because me and my friends that are at school now have more space.

Being on Chromebooks is sometimes hard and confusing. But it is more calm at school now that there are less people.          By Rahim

My lockdown is pretty good because I can play with my dog and I can play basketball outside with my brother.

I feel sad and sleepy because I can't see my friends and cousins. My thoughts about Lockdown is that I hate Lockdown and I like it at the same time because I can play when I want.          By Zane

I feel good about Lockdown because I am seeing my family more and I can have some extra time with them.

I am grateful for my PS4 so I can play video games when I’m done with my school work. I am also grateful to my mum for taking care of me and everyone in my family.

During Lockdown, I had learnt how to kick a soccer ball with my right leg better since I’m a lefty. In Maths I have been practicing doing multiplication with my family and I think I am now a bit better at my time tables.

The lockdown has been extended for longer and I have to stay at my home for longer. I wish we could go back outside and socialize more with everyone.          By Ethan

I feel really bad about Lockdown because I really want to see all of my friends every day. Sometimes I feel kind of stressed, I forget what I was doing and then I feel more stressed.

I love going outside and watering the flowers because sometimes people forget to water the plants and I would do them myself.

The worst thing that has happened to me during Lockdown is that when I fell down at home, my sister made fun of me and it hurt my feelings a lot.

I am grateful for doing Bluearth and Sport outside, when I am at school. Also I am also grateful for my parents because they make me laugh, feed me and teach me new stuff, especially during Lockdown.          By Bhavin.

Being in Lockdown makes me feel bored and alone, and it makes me feel stressful.

I’m grateful for being in Lockdown because I can spend more time with my family and it makes me feel happy when you get to spend time with friends and family.

A new skill I’ve developed during this Lockdown is typing without looking at the keyboard and typing faster.

The best thing that makes me happy during Lockdown is spending time with my family because they are the only thing I can think of when I’m bored and they  make me feel happy and loved.

The most wonderful thing that can happen to me is getting out of lockdown.

Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness

The founder of the Resilience Project, Hugh van Cuylenburg, talks about these three things as an enormous help towards maintaining wellbeing in our lives. In such difficult circumstances, it is hard for our kids to remain positive and upbeat. In the virtual classroom, we have been exploring these ideas to assist us and to help support our students.

GRATITUDE

A suggestion from Mark came that our senior students write a short note of gratitude to the police, who are on the front line in the pandemic, and whom last weekend were involved in the rally, where a number of officers were injured. Here are a few musings from our senior students.....

Last weekend in Melbourne
Last weekend in Melbourne

To the police,

Thank you for saving Melbourne by arresting people that could hurt us. Thank you for working with COVID and protesters. Some of you got hurt badly. And it is a hard job and I appreciate your work. I understand that we are in hard times because of COVID.

Dear Police,

It is truly devastating and disgusting what happened on the weekend.

No one deserves to go through that, especially if you are helping people. No one deserves to go through that no matter what job you have. I hope you all can recover from this.

Hello Police of Australia,

I am Ria, and I am just another 11 year old girl who admires your work, well that's probably all you’ll think. And I might think you're just another police officer.

But you're not, you're someone I look up to, to help protect us and keep us safe! And I think my favourite part of a police officer is … their kind hearts, cause no matter how much hard work you have to do or running and sacrificing you do for us,  you are always ready to give a big smile and say hi to me and other people!  Thankyou for being the best, most bravest people out there!

Dear Police,

Thank you for taking your part in this lockdown to keep us safe, we are all extremely grateful for this because it gives us a little bit more hope that we will get out of this lockdown sooner.

I understand it has been quite a rough time due to all the protests about this lockdown, with many policemen and women who have been hurt. You guys have done this for us and we are filled with gratitude, thank you for putting up with all that.

I appreciate it on a whole other level, for I am in a Year 6 class and this being my last year in Primary school. Because of the things that you guys have done for us, it gives me hope that I will be able to spend more time with all my friends and teachers before I graduate.

Many thanks, Anni

EMPATHY

Another idea proposed by Mark was to get in contact with a primary school in Sydney and offer an empathetic ear to the kids who are experiencing lockdown for the first time. Pen pal letters and Lockdown Survival kids were sent to Sacred Heart school, Cabramatta, last week to help support those students experiencing what we did last year (and this year!).

Our kids have become wise hands at this, almost sharing their expertise with others their own age. Here's a sample.....

Dear Pen Pal,

My name is Ankita. I am in Year 6 and I am 11 years old, turning 12 on the 30th of September. There are 5 people in my family, my mum, my dad, my younger sister{ 3 years old } and my older sister { 17 years old }. I am the middle child. I live 7 to 10 minutes away from school, which is, as you know, called Sacred Heart Primary School. My school is located in Preston, which is a suburb in Melbourne. It is a northern suburb and about 8 km from the city.

My two favourite subjects are Math and Sport. I really love math, mainly because I am really good at it. I have always adored sports mainly because I am always very energetic and full of fun. I do taekwondo and I am a black belt. My 3 favorite sports would be swimming, tennis and gymnastics. My favourite food is sushi and I am Indian. I entered cross country once and I came 13 out of 62 people. It’s a bit cold here and I can't wait for summer!

Since this is your first lockdown as I have heard, it is okay to feel confused. But can you believe that we have gone through five lockdowns?! It is insane!

The reason why I chose those ten things in my Lockdown Survival Kit is because I think it is important to enjoy yourself while being in lockdown. The things I wrote down are the things I enjoy and have fun doing when I’m bored.

Anyway, what do you love doing at home? Do you have any hobbies? What is your favourite sport? I can’t wait to here all about you when you write back!!!

From,

Ankita.

Dear Pen Pal,

Hi my name is Areesh, I am in Year 6, I’m 11 years old.  I have a brother in year 4 and he is very annoying!  I love going to school because I have my friends there with me.

My lockdown was a nightmare. We had to do everything on the computer, it was so hard, but we got through it.

We had lots of google meets (i have not been on time for any of them) and that was not good. Don’t do that, you're going to miss all the things your teacher is going to say!

I have some questions for you,

What is your name?

How old are you?

Do you have any sisters or brothers?

What do you like, at school, and at home?

What are your friends' names?

What is your favorite thing about school?

Bye from Areesh

Dear Pen Pal,

Hello, my name is Bernice and I’m a year 5 at Sacred Heart Preston.

In my Lockdown Survival Kit, I put talking with friends online first because you should be able to catch up with them, since it will be a bit lonely, besides your parents, of course.

You should also spend time with your family whenever you have free time, and it’s a way to take advantage of this lockdown, so you have a bigger and stronger bond with your family and friends. Going out is also needed because you do need fresh air and exercise. Finishing off work when you are bored is also an option, just for whenever you are bored and have nothing else to do.

Sleeping or taking a rest is also important because you need your energy for the day. Watching shows or movies is an option whenever you feel like you need a time for yourself to relax. You definitely need food on this weird journey, because you cannot starve. Calling friends or family is mostly like talking with your friends, but with family like your grandparents, aunties and uncles, etc. Playing with pets (if you have any) is also important as you will be able to make a better bond with your pets!

My hobbies are drawing and writing, my favourite food is pasta and my favourite sport is basketball (even though I’m not the best at it). What about you? My birthday is on the 9th February, and I’m 10 years old. How old are you?

I think you can survive the lockdown just as well as we did, maybe even better. You shouldn’t freak out, because it isn’t the end of the world yet. Hopefully you are prepared for your first lockdown, because it took me a while to get used to working from home. Just make sure you at least have something to do when you’re bored or you’ve already finished work, because you can’t just sit there and stare at the screen!

I wish you good luck in your lockdown, and I hope you are able to go out soon.

From Bernice. (Here’s my Lockdown Survival Kit - https://docs.google.com)

Dearest Pen Pal,

Nice to meet you, My name’s Hanna.  I’m from Sacred Heart in Preston.  First of all, how’s your day been? Good, bad or in between?

Some things about myself, I’m from a Vietnamese family, I have two siblings (one older, one younger), I am currently 11 (turning 12, my birthday is October the 24th) and I am a Vice Captain at my school.

Some questions I would like to ask you,

  • How old are you?
  • Do you have any siblings?
  • How was school before lockdown?
  • What are your hobbies?
  • What is your gender?
  • What’s your favourite subject?
  • Can you speak more than one language?
  • How are you doing in lockdown?
  • What’s your favorite show?

Hopefully you will be able to answer my very non suspicious questions…

Lockdown is quite tough so while you're dealing with it, some tips for you are to stay positive, try doing something productive like exercise and keep in contact with family and friends.

Hope to hear from you soon,

All the best, your pen pal Hanna.

Dear pen pal,

Hi, my name is Isabelle and I’m in Grade Five. I heard you are in lockdown and lucky for you I can give you some tips and tricks on how to survive lockdown, because I have been in lockdown 5 times already!

You will see soon that I have made a poster about the things I used to get through lockdown. It’s called my lockdown survival kit.

First let me tell you a bit about myself, I am 11 and I love animals. I have one brother who is very annoying, and if you have a sibling with you at home I feel bad for you. I love to draw. In lockdown I did lots of drawings and my skills have gotten better. If you have a hobby like that, try to do lots of it so you can get through the day. In one of the lockdowns I was so bored that I wanted to redecorate my room and so I did. I moved so many things around my room, only to find out I didn't like it so I moved them around again until I liked my room.

So if you are allowed to do that to your room, you should definitely do it!

I know Lockdown sucks but you will get through it, as though time feels slow as soon you know it you will be back into the normal school routine. If you want time to go faster, a tip from me would be to stay in contact with your friends and call them as much as you can.

Things that I put in my lockdown kit was, one, as I said stay in contact with friends and family, 2 watch lots of movies and have movie marathons, 3 if you have pets go play with them so they can brighten up your day, 4 get your favourite drink just for fun, 5 play outdoors, 6, food, you just need food, 7 go for lots of walks, that's what kept me happy. 8 do your favorite things, 9 play games with friends and 10 TREAT YOURSELF WELL.

Right now as I am finishing writing this letter I am in my 6th lockdown! Can you believe that!!! I know it sucks but you will get through it, and so will I.

Okay, okay enough about me, now it is time for me to ask you some questions.

First question, do you have any animals\pets? Question 2, how old are you? Question 3, what is your favorite thing to do? Question 4, what sport are you best at? Question 5, what is your favorite colour? Mine is aqua. Question 6, what is your best friend's name? And the most important question is, what's your name!!! Well  I need to stop here or else I will have pages and pages of writing so, bye then, hope you have a good day.

 from your pen pal, Isabelle.

my lockdown survival kit

Dear Pen Pal,

My name is Jakob. I go to Sacred Heart primary school in Preston in Melbourne and it's 10 minutes away from the city. Now I will tell you about myself. I am 12 years old and I am in grade 6. I am the vice captain of the school. I have also coached the football team with my friends.

My background is Irish and British.  Some of my hobbies are playing football for a team called Roxburgh Park Magpies. I have been playing for them for 4 years. My favourite subjects are sports and writing. I also play ps4 and pc. And I have heard you are going into lockdown and I would like to help you out first.

You would definitely need food and some fitness during it, so I usually play basketball outside. You also need a laptop or ipad to do school work and watch Netflix, Youtube, Disney e.t.c .

But lockdown also gives you some more time to spend with your family that lives with you. And that's my advice for lockdown since I have been through 5

Lockdowns also STAY HOME. And now I will be asking you some questions if you don't mind.

Questions ,

What's your name?

Are you nervous or anxious about your first lockdown?

How do you feel about your first lockdown?

What are your hobbies?

Do you like lockdown or not?

From Jakob

Hi my name is Jayben.

I live 10 minutes away from school. Some things to know about me is that I really love to skate. It's a passion to me. I have won 1 competition in my life with skateboarding. I'd say I'm pretty good but not good enough.

I haven't been skating a lot lately due to Covid but Ifind my ways, I know how to cook my favourite thing that i have made is probably brownies. My favourite thing to do in my room  is probably listen to music in my free time.

Things about Preston

In Preston we have a market called “Preston Market” they sell most things there like Asian groceries, food, shops to buy little things, e.t.c.  Our school lives approximately 10-20 minutes away from the city depends on traffic or not. I live pretty close to a McDonalds. I go there a lot, maybe just for drinks when skating. I live right next to a skatepark which is not an official skatepark. It's abandoned  but popular. I have been there since I started skating. It's my favorite skatepark ever.

Hope to hear from you soon
Jayben

Dear Person,

I know you're having  a rough time in your first  lockdown and I know it sucks but I have been in your position before and let's just say Melbournians are experts at lockdown now, so I will give you a few tips on how to stop yourself from going insane in lockdown. If your work gets way too hard and you just want a break just relax, half of the things on online learning are not really important work and if it is just tell your teacher you have got no internet actually don't do those things if your teacher finds out that could be bad.

We Melbournians are in our 6th lockdown here and I know now how boring it can get during the time at home  so I have given you a lockdown survival kit down below anyway let me tell you somethings about myself.

My favourite subject is sport, I am a boy, I am terrible at art and I am in grade 6. Do you like sports? I play tennis. 5 or 6 weeks ago. I went to Queensland to play in a national team event. I played for team vic and we got to the semi finals but then had to go home.

Do you play sports? If so , which one? What is your favourite colour and what is your name anyway here is my lockdown survival kit stay strong during lockdown.

Joel

Pen pal letter,

Hello girl/boy I'm here to help you with lockdown.

Lockdown is actually a good thing because you can't be next to people all day, especially the stupid and smelly ones, so think of lockdown like this, lockdown is a break from bullies, stupid kids, haters and trashers (kids who throw trash around ~ also known as litter bugs))

Here are some things to actually do during lockdown...

  1. Don't do any work
  2. Play games all day
  3. Ignore work
  4. Mess your friends up in a meeting
  5. Be as annoying as you can possibly be
  6. Steal lollies or chocolate
  7. Play with a dog

If you have anymore problems just send a letter back

From John. D

PS Only kidding!

My Pen Pal letter

Hi Penpal,

My name is Josh and I am in Year 6,  I am really excited to be your penpal, My least favourite subject is writing and my favourite subject is Maths, it’s because I am doing extended Maths so I love doing Maths.

My passion is tennis,  I play competition and I am in one of the high grades, the school that I am at is Sacred Heart school, the school is in Preston, but the best thing is that I live in Preston and it is only 4 min to my house from my school. I live near the city, it is only 10 min away, I think your school is 20 min from the city, so not bad. I am an Indian, my favourite food in indian is Biryani, its an Indian dish, My favourite European food is pasta, favourite Australian food is schnitzel burger.

I just wanted to say something important. I love sports and next week we are going to do our own Olympics which is going to be so fun. It is going to be Asia vs Europe vs Australia.

I hope that you vote for Asia. Now I will tell you about my family members, dad, mum, sister, grandpa and grandma right now my sister is in year 10, my grandpa and grandma are in india, I am waiting for them to come back. Just to say that I am a boy, maybe you will  think something else. I have lots of good friends in my school so it is really good for me. My friends are Ria, Ryan, Joel Jakob Liam, Ahan. I do have more friends just to say.

Now for some questions

What is your favourite subject ?

What grade are you?

Dear….. Whoever you are.

My name is Sylvie (not Sylvia), my pronouns are she/her and I am 12 years old. I’m writing to you because this is your first big lockdown and I’m glad to announce that I’m here to help, since us Melbournians have had 6!

I have a very annoying older sister named Alexandra, (Ali for short). I was wondering if you have any siblings?

I Love baking things like cakes, cupcakes and cookies in my free time, and I’m always open to trying new things. What do you like to do in your free time? I am OBSESSED with the tv show miraculous ladybug, what’s your favourite? I am a huge reader and my favourite books are The Fault In Our Stars, Chain of Gold, the lucky list and Simon Vs. the homo sapiens agenda. What’s your favourite Book?

My main must have for lockdown is chocolate, because like I said in my list, chocolate is life. It will help you get through those days when you miss your friends and chocolate Is just down right DELICIOUS. Netflix helped a lot because most nights were spent on the couch eating popcorn and watching movies. You HAVE to do some baking, because it takes up time and you get to eat whatever you made afterwards. You can also try out new recipes and who knows, you might find a new favourite! (if you need some recipes) you can ask me!)

One thing that I didn't put in the survival kit is that you have to prepare for dad jokes. Family members and teachers will start doing what they can to keep sane, (Because they have to look after you!) and will use dad jokes as their first resort. Make sure to stay strong through these terrible jokes.

All jokes aside, You will start to miss your friends a lot, and that’s normal, I'm sure they’re missing you too! You can always catch up after school hours at a park, you can also facetime and/or have a google meet with your friends. Don’t be afraid to tell your friends how you’re feeling, they’re most likely going through the same thing. You can also always talk to me, I know exactly what you’re going through and I’m here to help.

My email address is sylvkeo@gmail.com and I look forward to seeing your letter!

From, Sylvie.

Dear Pen Pal,

First of all I would like to talk to you about lockdown. It can be very tough but there are many things that you can do to stay sane.

Personally my favorite thing to do in lockdown is to build with lego. Because when your at home you will have a lot of spare time on your hands and building with Lego can fill it up. There are many things that you can build like cars, rockets, buildings, houses, spaceships, castles, the opportunities are endless. (Nearly)

You could also start doing jigsaws maybe starting out with a 250 piece puzzle and the making your way up. Lastly my favorite thing to do is READ!!!!!!!! Also you could enter the Premiers Reading Challenge.

At the end of the day my favorite thing to do is watch a movie with my family and/or read books till Mum or Dad come to tell me to turn the light off. Lastly I hope that your lockdown isn't too long and that you stay well balanced and calm.

Dear pen pal,

My name is Maleah and I am 11, I have one sister (chantal) one dog (wilson) and my parents are divorced so I live with my mum. I know you are going through a really hard time with your first lockdown and though it is probably going to be really long I have made this lockdown survival kit for you. It has all the things that helped me get through lockdown like….

  • Watching netflix, stan, disney + etc (so you can watch your favorite shows)
  • Making dinner for your family (it is a really big challenge, and if you want to challenge yourself more, do an entre, main and dessert)
  • Mixing things together in the kitchen (try to make something delicious)
  • Calling my friends (snapchat, houseparty, facetime etc)
  • Reading (so the day goes by faster)
  • Playing games or watching (tiktok, roblox, among us etc)
  • Dot journaling (it is basically a diary but instead of lines on the pages it has dots and you can draw keep track of how much water you drink or how long you sleep for)
  • Making a routine (so when you get back to school you won’t be late, like me I got really used to waking up late)

Also I have a tip for online schooling, whether or not you take it, if you are having trouble on a subject and you email a teacher for help then they don’t respond that quickly just start on a different subject for later in the day, so you have something other than waiting there for hours. Or you could just play some games! And I mean you could play games like everytime you just need a break from everything or go on an early lunch break. From my experience (which is 5 lockdowns) I have taken a lot of early breaks. Do you do sessions like food tech and stuff like that at your school? Because we don’t. How many people have you got in your school? We have around 100. Yeah I know we have a really small school. It is actually quite amazing how we kinda know everyone in the school. Oh I  forgot to say I am in year 6! So I forgot if we were writing letters to year 5’s and 6’s or just year 6s or just year 5s, so what year level are you in? Do you know what high school you are going to. I am pretty sure that I am going to Northcote High because my sister goes there and she is in Year 10 right now and when I go to year 7 she will be in year 11! Anyway if you have any questions you can tell me.

From Maleah.

Dear Pen Pal

Hi, my name is Carlos and I am year 6. My poster can help you when you have a lockdown. We have had 5 lockdowns so we already know what a lockdown feels like. The reason I picked those words on my poster is because I do all of them. And I hope my poster can help you.

About me

I live in Preston Bell street. The street I live in is old. I joined a new school in term 2 or 3, I didn’t have that many friends, I was really shy and I was new. My first friend was Isaac, he was in year 6, now he is in year 7.

I'm the second fastest in the school I'm pretty sure. I play lots of sports. I'm really active when we play sports. But lockdown is the worst. When I was in year 5 lockdown went on for so long. I didn’t know how to use the chrome book so it was hard for me. And we had to join the google meets, I was shy and scared to join the google meets. But my friend helped me so I could join google meets.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Carlos

To my Pen pal,

Hi my name is Julian.

I am 11 years old and I am in year 5. I live in Preston, Melbourne and I understand what you're going through. I have done the same thing.

We are starting our 6th lockdown. When our lockdown started, I was very confused and a bit scared but I got through it. In my lockdown survival kit I will tell you some things I did in lockdown. I put in my family because they helped me get through lockdown. We watch movies, tv shows and we go on bike rides together.

I also sometimes go in my pajamas for the whole day of home learning. There is a little surprise video in my lockdown survival kit .

It's funny. I hope you enjoy it.

Mindfulness

Whether it's artwork or photography or even growing vegies and plants from seed, being in the moment with a simple activity also helps with our mental health and well being. The senior students have been engaged in all three activities over the past week or so and will continue throughout the rest of the term. Really looking forward to some fresh produce in Term 4! Here's a peek at what the kids have been doing....
