School Council sends our best wishes to the Chelt Sec community. We hope everyone is keeping safe and well. If you need support at this time, please contact School.
At recent School Council meetings we have discussed plans for the Year 7 area, school uniforms, parenting payments, wellbeing initiatives, and had a sneak preview of how 2021 NAPLAN results sit against our school’s strategic goals for reading, writing, numeracy and impacts of the Covid effect.
E&C’s brief is to advise on communications and building engagement between school and the community. Recently we’ve worked on:
E&C sub-committee members are Sami (student member), Susannah (parent member), Rory and Mel (community members), Karl and Jan (school staff).
Susannah Bowen-Wheatley lives in Moorabbin, works in marketing/publishing/university sector and enjoys baking. Her son is a current year 10 at Chelt Sec; she joined School
Council in 2021 and is on Finance and Engagement sub-committees. She is particularly interested in diversity, wellbeing and communication.
Rory Hall joined the school council in 2020 in the role of community member. Rory lives in Noble Park with a son in Year 9 at Chelt Sec. Having spent the past 20 years leading young
people in over seas expeditions, Rory's passion is for all Chelt Sec students to develop into broad minded global citizens, particularly through experiences beyond the classroom.
Every government school has a council. School Council participates in the development and monitoring of the school’s strategic plan and school policy, and plays an important role in overseeing the school’s financial operations and budget. School Council members are drawn from students, parents, Department of Education and the community. Chelt Sec’s School council includes sub-committees Student Services, Education Policy, Engagement and Communication, Building and Grounds, Finance.
