Mullum Paralympics

Well done to all of the students who participated in the Mullum Paralympics last week.

Below is a pie chart showing which year level at Mullum was the most active at completing this activity.

Was your child one of them?

Being active, as we know, is a very important part of being healthy, not only physically but mentally.  Now that playgrounds are off limits, it has been pleasing to see many parents taking their children to Council grounds, ovals and reserves to ride bikes, operate remote control cars, hunt for insects, have a picnic or ball game, go for a walk, look for Spring blossoms, walk the family dog…to name a few. Many school families have done Ms Hill and Mrs Shackelford’s ‘Mullum Word Hunt’.  Others are doing Mrs Hunsdale’s ‘Mullum House Rules’.

Another idea is to go for a walk and play one of the games below –

Colours – every person chooses or is assigned a colour and must look for that colour on your route.  Players get points for each object they see with their assigned colour.  Players must state clearly what the object is and keep track of their own points.

Count Off - pick something to keep track of, from red cars to dead trees. Make it a contest or collaborate, whichever is more appealing to your walking crew.

Follow The Leader – a classic!  The leader adds an element to the walk, like an arm motion, a sound, a hop, or so on. Everyone behind has to follow along. Or, to make the game more challenging, have each new leader add a new element while keeping all the old ones going.

Have fun!
