Book Week in The Art Room

The Tin Forest written by HelenWard is a favourite book of mine. It was given to my daughter when she was in Kindergarten. In Art this week, students were asked to continue creating with junk, but this time including items from the garden. Students had a choice of activities........To Build a 'Tin Forest' in their garden using recycled junk and found objects from your home, to Draw a Tin Forest including recycled junk and found objects from your house and plants from your garden or to Collage a Tin Forest using an assortment of images from magazines, newspapers, junk mail, foil, wrapping paper. Have a look at some of the creations that were submitted this week!

Foil Fish

Making art at home can be tricky if you are short on materials such as paint, clay and markers, but………..if we switch our thinking to include the kitchen, materials are endless!

Most of us are familiar with the food saving qualities of Aluminium Foil. Did you know that foil is used by many artists to create armatures (or frames) for their sculptures, textural effects in printmaking and details in collage and paintings? Foil is such a versatile medium. Foundation, Grade 1/2s have been using kitchen foil to create their exquisite FOIL FISH! Take a look at the multitude of fishy shapes and textures the students have created. We have some very proud artists!

JunkBots

JunkBot creations continue to be shared on our Google Classroom platform. Take a look at the way various bits and pieces have been placed together to create some very creative robots! Found objects have even found their way into illustrations!
