Maths @ GEC

Mathematics at GEC

In this time of extended lockdown, I would like to thank all parents for your understanding and support for your children and the staff at GEC.

If you are worried about your child falling behind with the topics covered so far due to the difficulties in this lockdown situation or if you would like your child to extend their knowledge and skills, please know that students can still go back to the topics that have been covered already or can start on a new topic and can work on them independently to master their skills, using Mathspace. For the parents who would like to extend their support to their children, please guide your child to work independently on topics of their choice on Mathspacehttps://mathspace.co/ by following the steps below:

How your child can work independently on topics of their choice

Instead of working from a task that their teachers have set, students can work independently on topics of their choice. They can do so by accessing the Practice page from the navigation bar.

When they are in the Practice page, the first thing they should do is to ensure that they are working in the correct syllabus. Mathspace remembers the students' selection for when they next come to the Practice page.

Once the appropriate syllabus has been chosen, the student can then choose a topic and subtopic. They will then have the following options:

  • Scorecard: they can view their previous work done on that subtopic.
  • Question Set: they can view a list of all the questions that might appear, and practice on individual questions of their choice.
  • Lesson: they can view the lesson for the topic.
  • Practice: they can work through a self-started adaptive assessment in the workbook.
