Term One Parent-Teacher Interviews

This term we will be trialing a different system for our Parent-teacher Interviews.  We received feedback last year that parents found the online appointments and interviews useful and easier to access.  It has been decided to use this arrangement again on the afternoon/evening of Thursday 25 and morning of Friday 26 March. Ten minute interviews slots will be available for teachers, parents and students to meet online and discuss individual learning progress this term.  Interviews will be able to be booked by parents through the Compass system shortly.  Interviews will be held from 4.30pm until 9.00pm on the Thursday and then from 9.00am until 12.00pm on the Friday.  Hopefully this will allow parents with different working schedules and family commitments to meet with our teachers.

PACE Workshop - Resilient Families

We are fortunate to have a team of qualified staff from Communities that Care Knox,  who have volunteered their time to work with members of the Fairhills High School community to assist parents to better understand their adolescent children and assist our students to develop problem solving skills, manage conflict, create positive relationships, and promote their social and emotional wellbeing.  The facilitators plan to support parents as they assist their children to become more resilient and to create strong positive relationships with family and their peers.

The workshops are available to parents of students in Years 7 and 8.  These workshops will be held on Tuesday evenings at Fairhills High School in C Block starting on 4th May until 8th June 2021 from 7pm-9pm. Parents who are interested and would like to attend these workshops are encouraged to email me at fairhills.hs@education.vic.gov.au  

2020 Valedictory Afternoon Tea

The Class of 2020 enjoyed their Valedictory celebration with an Afternoon Tea in the school’s Library on Wednesday March 2021.  We were pleased to welcome the Hon. Mr Alan Tudge, MP, Member for Aston, past Principal Mr Harvey Wood, Principal Mr Ian Van Schie, staff and students.  

The highlight of the afternoon was connecting with our 2020 Year 12 cohort and congratulating our award winners.  Apart from our subject award winners, we were pleased to congratulate the following award receipients: 

Laura Barclay - Fairhills High School 2020 Dux 

Ana Jovanovic - The Aston Shield  

Zoe Cutler - The Caltex All-Rounder Award  

Samuel Heydon - The Australian Defence Force Award .  

We congratulated our Class of 2020 and recognized that they made it through the most difficult year of their schooling.  Special thanks goes to Ms Silvana La Leggia and Mrs Liz Rundle who managed and organized this event.
