Principal's Message

‘from ashes we came and to ashes we shall return.’

Dear all

Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM) is now Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS). The governance change became effective in January. For further information the website is here.

School Leaders 2021

It was lovely to celebrate our School Leaders today as they received their leadership badges. We look forward to the value and contribution that all our Year Six Leaders will make during the year.

We are the Champions!!

Today our team of 15 strong swimmers competed in the HOLT district Swimming Carnival. We won the percentage trophy and some of our swimmers will progress on to the next round. Thank you Mr Mutimer for the early morning sessions and to all our wonderful swimmers and parents for supporting this achievement.

Survey Update

Thank you to all of you who responded to our recent survey around our communication. We had 33 responses which is great and a wide variety of answers.

In summary the main trend was around having quick and easy access to dates and 'what's going on' at St Joseph's.

The newsletter will be a little skinnier as we appreciate most people use a smart phone to scroll through and we will have a dedicated page for dates.

Some parents would like to see the children and awards more prominent in the newsletter which is understandable. Our concern is that we feel that we would like to mitigate the risk to our students when, like most school newsletters, the newsletter is published on the website and is therefore available to the public. ( we do check our subscribers - but there are links from the website so the newsletter can also act as part of our marketing strategy. We are considering NOT publishing children's first names in the newsletter. We will seek advice from MACS and let you know. .

Remote Learning

Thank you to the staff and students for responding so effectively to the snap lockdown last week. I want to acknowledge the agility of the teachers to move between onsite and offsite learning. We will be preparing to move into remote learning if required - and we will always communicate with you via Operoo regarding instructions and expectations.

Ash Wednesday - We will celebrate the ‘Beginning of Lent’ liturgy next Wednesday 24th February at 2.45pm and parents are welcome to join us.
