BDSSA SUMMER FIXTURE

BDSSA SUMMER FIXTURE

Divisional Swimming Carnival

This year’s Divisional Swimming Carnival was held at Northcote Aquatic Centre on Tuesday 2nd March. 9 students from Plenty Parklands Primary represented the Whittlesea Division.

All of the students have made us very proud, each one swimming at their best level to complete their 50m swim against students from four other districts from within the Whittlesea division. It was great to hear our students cheer each other on from the side of the pool, they also encouraged and supported each other before their events. Each student congratulated each other after each event as well, what a great PPPS team effort!

Our students displayed excellent efforts in both their individual and team events.

Sara B came a very close 2nd in her individual breast stroke event (Congratulations Sara!)

Isaac L placed 3rd in both his freestyle and breast stroke event and then went on to swim in the relay event for his age group also!

Anabele P placed 4th in her backstroke event, then went on to swim in the mixed relay as well.

Mia C placed 5th in her freestyle event and then 4th in her butterfly event, what an effort! She also went on to swim in the relay event at the end of the day.

Fletcher H placed 7th in his breast stroke event and went on to swim in the freestyle relay as well.

Our 10yr freestyle relay team was made up of Tanish B, Savannah M, Aishani R and Isaac L. They placed 5th for this event, a great achievement considering this is the first time at this level for each of them. What an experience. We hope to see them competing again next year!

Our 11yr freestyle relay team was made up of Fletcher H, Anabele P, Lucas G and Mia C. This team placed 4th in our division, once again an excellent achievement!

We are so proud of each student who made it through to this level and showed courage and determination to compete in each of their events. I look forward to seeing each of these students swimming for our school next year, along with many others (from years 3 -5) who have the opportunity to submit their best swimming times in term 4.

I would sincerely like to thank the students’ parents, family and/or friends who made the effort to transport the students to and from the Northcote swimming pool on the day and have continually encouraged and supported them to try their best for their event.

Well done to all of the students once again for not only completing their swim on the day but for being so supportive of each other – you are a great team!

Remember this could be YOU next year if you can swim 50 metres and are in year 3, 4 or 5 right now! Watch out for the swimming notices in term 4 this year.
