WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

GARDENING CLUB

Gardening Club will officially kick off next term. However if any keen green thumbs would like to help out we will be getting together in the garden on a Tuesday during afternoon recess. Our plan for the rest of this term is to weed and clear out the current garden beds and prepare them for next term.

Shout out to parents – If you have any old gardening gloves, tools, pots, seeds, buckets or anything you think our gardening club would benefit from and you would like to donate them, then please drop them off at reception at your earliest convenience.

ZERO HERO

Here at SMPPS we encourage all students and families to be ZERO HEROES!! We are asking students and families to bring their food and snacks in reusable containers and lunchboxes. Try to avoid plastic bags, things in wrappers, cling film or foil!

Thought for the week - Instead of buying several small packets of popcorn, try buying one big bag, and then each day put some popcorn in a reusable container to bring to school. Not only is this better for the environment, it is also cheaper and one way you can be a ZERO HERO!!!

UP-CYCLE FILING CABINETS

We have recently come across some old filling cabinets, and have the dream of up-cycling them and turning them into portable garden beds. Throughout the coming weeks and into next term, we will look to attach wheels, paint and line them, and fill them with soil.

If anyone in the community feels like they have the skills for this project, would like to volunteer their time or have anything they would like to donate to this project, please get in touch. Either swing by the office or send an email to andrew.beattie@education.vic.gov.au
