EAL News: Where Are They Now?

Alieu Chol

Alieu Chol graduated in 2017, and he has done a lot of amazing things since then.  We caught up with him recently to ask him a few questions.

WHO FIRST DISCOVERED YOU AND OFFERED YOU A BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP?

Well, first I had saved some money from working and getting help from Ms. Grace Hawke and made my own way down to America to play in an expose camp.  From there, I got an offer from 4A Academy in Florida.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE THAT FIRST YEAR TO BE IN THE STATES?

As like traveling, it was an eye opening experience which will always live with me. My first year was tought, as it's a new country plus their playing style was new to me.  I also had to change my position and learn new skills.  It was tough but great way to learn and adapt to a new life.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 OR 10 YEARS?

I am hoping to be well known playing either in the states in the NBA or take my skills professionally and play in the international leagues such as China, Europe, or even be home playing for my people in the NBL.

WHO HAS BEEN THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE SO FAR?

I'm going to be honest with myself. I think the most influential person I look up to is the one and only me, with what I've gone through in these past few years, I did it!

Another person I will always look up to has to be my little cousin Kuany Kuany who is playing in the big league for UC Berkeley in the paradise state of California with the top public university in the country.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR OTHER YOUTH WHO WOULD LIKE TO FOLLOW IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS?

Do what you want and love, even though people may not understand what you are doing.  Do what it takes because in the end, it will be you succeeding.
