Premier’s Reading Challenge

If your child has misplaced their login and password they can come and see me and I can give it to them again.  If students do not have access to a computer or the internet at home I have paper copies of the PRC Reading Log that can be used to write down their books.  Students can then bring their PRC Reading Log into the library and enter their books using one of the library computers.

As a little incentive for students to keep up with their reading, they will each receive a bookmark once they have read five books and entered them on the computer.  A number of students have already been to see me to collect their bookmark which is great!

Library Program

Years 1 to 6 have been busy re-learning their way around the library and gaining a better understanding of the purpose of each section.  We have looked at fiction and non-fiction books and the features that identify them as one or the other.

Stage 2 and Stage 3 have also had great fun learning about QR codes and creating their own.  QR code stands for Quick Response code.  It is a special kind of barcode that anyone can create using a QR code creator website.  QR codes can be scanned with a smartphone app that usually directs the user to a website.  It can be a direct link to a video, a quiz, a picture, further information on a topic, the list is endless!

Stage 2 and Stage 3 have created QR codes that will take the user to a book being read to them.  We will be placing the codes in the library throughout the year so students can come in and listen to a book.  If you have a child in Stage 2 or 3 please ask them about it as they have done a fabulous job and I’m sure they would like to tell you about them!

Book Club

Book Club orders from issue 2 have been given out to students this week.  If you ordered a book and your child hasn’t received it please let me know.
