MAC Celebrations

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we have needed to cancel the performances for MAC this year.  This means that, for the first time in 50 years, there won’t be live performances of the production (this year it was to be Legally Blonde). We informed the cast and crew of this outcome at the start of the term. Although disappointed, the students and staff have taken the cancellation in their stride and vowed to return better than ever.

MAC is the acronym for the Musical Appreciation Club at St Albans Secondary College. It started in 1970 and there has been an incredible range of performances over the years with many original productions in the early days.

This year will be the 50-year anniversary of the start of MAC, we will have celebrations to mark this wonderful milestone when school operations allow for this.  We look forward to the continued support of the community for our school productions and hope that many students, staff, community members and alumni are able to be part of the celebrations that will take place later in the year.  Please see the flyer in this newsletter – a steering committee has started work on the 50-year anniversary and have already been contacted by several ex- students who are keen to be involved. We want as many people as possible who have been involved in MAC over the past 50 years to be part of these celebrations.

Please also reach out to Coordinators or the Wellbeing Team for extra support if that would help.  Just a chat can sometimes make all the difference.
