Mental Wellbeing Support

Beyond Blue has launched the Coronavirus Mental Wellbeing and Support Service. This website will be regularly updated with information, advice and strategies to help you manage your wellbeing and mental health during this time.

 

Managing Your Mental Health Online

Australians can use Medicare to talk to health practitioners about mental health. There are also other ways to get help on a phone, computer or tablet. These include crisis and counselling services, and mental health treatments that have been converted into web programs or apps.

E-Mental Health in Practice are regularly updating their online fact sheet outlining various Australian, government-funded online, telephone and app-based mental health services.

 

Resources to support children and young people

Emerging Minds has curated a selection of resources that will assist parents and carers to best to support their children and reduce worry and distress. It contains a video, factsheets and tips about what you can expect and how you can help children cope.

1800RESPECT continues to operate

1800RESPECT will continue to operate during the health emergency, and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

 

It’s critical that those impacted by sexualdomestic and family violence know that support is available.

If a person is not able to call 1800RESPECT safely, they can speak with counsellors via webchat. The counsellors are very experienced in how to sensitively handle contacts from those who are in the same house as the person using violence. The caller’s safety is the main priority.

In an emergency or if someone is in immediate danger, please call 000.

FOOD AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Food and Personal Care Package for self-isolating Victorians

Victorians in mandatory self-isolation who are unable to have any dropped-off by friends are now eligible for a food and personal care package, with a two-weeks supply of staple pantry items, as well as some personal care items. People wishing to request a pack should call Victoria’s dedicated Coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398

Food and Basic Supplies for People with Disabilities

ACD have compiled a list of how to obtain food and basic supplies for people with disabilities. If getting to the shops is difficult due to your child with a disability, you can register for priority online delivery with Woolworths and Coles. As a carer, you can also access Community Hour from 7am–8am Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
