Year 9 Global

The Chicken's are Coming.....

Last year some of our Global students undertook the momentous task of cleaning up an abandoned area to establish a chicken coop to raise some chickens in. The students did a great deal of hard work in preparing and fox proofing the chook crib but ran out of time to complete the project.  Luckily, some of current Global students have enthusiastically taken up the challenge to get some chickens into the Chook crib. We are pleased to announce that our chickens will be with us very soon.

We need to send out a huge THANK YOU to Wagner’s Poultry for encouraging our students, donating 5 young laying hens and a huge bag of food. Scoresby Bunnings also helped us out with materials and advice when the chook crib was being built last year.

The students are very excited about the prospect of raising happy hens and selling eggs to the teachers and canteen with any profit going to a local charity. We are incredibly proud of all the students who have worked so hard to create a project focusing on animal welfare and sustainable practices.  We are hoping all of the students and school community support the initiative of the Global students and help care for our new little friends.
