Athletic Sports

The School Athletics Carnival held on Thursday 17th March was one of the most successful held in recent years. The weather was warm for a change and many more students involved themselves in a range of events. The reintroduction of the House system saw students dress up in their colours and compete for points on the track and in the field.  There was a strong spirit of friendly competition throughout the day with students providing support for their team mates. This was highlighted in one of the hurdles races when one girl fell over a hurdle and another competitor stopped to help her up.

Not only did students run, jump and throw with enthusiasm but Mrs O'Connor and the Student Leadership team successfully ran a number of novelty events throughout the day. The day ended with the entire school walking two laps of the track in memory of Mr Holloway. Congratulations to Mr Potter and the Physical Education staff for organising a fantastic Athletics day. Well done to all students who competed for the four houses – Aoi (Blue House) narrowly won the day, and good luck to those moving onto the next stage of interschool competition.

Parents Contacting Staff

Staff at Fairhills welcome parent contact and are more than happy to discuss student progress and help clarify any issues. Parents have a number of options available to them when they wish to make contact with teachers. The Compass system is an effective way to monitor student progress, work completion and attendance. It can be used as an email link to contact individual subject teachers at any time. If parents wish they can contact staff using the school phone number. If the teacher is unavailable a message can be left on the answering system. All staff endeavour to respond to these messages in a timely manner. Parents are able to request a face to face meeting with staff at any time, however it is important to make an appointment in advance.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Week two of next term will see the first Parent Teacher Interviews for the year. They will be held on Tuesday 19th April, from 12pm-8pm in C Block. Interviews will be ten minutes in length and parents will have the opportunity to meet with each of their students subject teachers.  Appointments must be made through the Compass system, and will become available early next term. If parents are having difficulty with the system or do not have their access details please contact the Information Technology department at school.
