Year 7 Camp

Phillip Island

At the end of February two bus loads of excited Year 7's and their teachers departed for 3 days and 2 nights at Phillip Island.  Our destination was a Youth Camp in Cowes where we have been going with the Year 7's for the last few years.

Before arriving at the camp we drove to The Nobbies and the students were able to experience a very new attraction which simulates Antarctica.  A popular exhibit was the small refrigerated room, designed to give the visitors an idea of the freezing temperatures there.

Arriving at the camp the students were greeted by the young and enthusiastic staff and settled into their rooms, before beginning the first round of activities.  The camp has Flying Fox, a Giant Swing, Archery, Human Foosball, Trampolines and a Swimming Pool among its attractions.  Each student completed these activities during our stay.

The evenings were equally busy.  The first night Mr MacCartney played his energetic Beach Game which ended only when the light became too poor, and Tuesday night we all walked to a Bowling venue.  The students also walked to the Wild Life Park to feed native animals, and took a bus to Amazin'Things, to play mini golf, explore a maze and drop down the slide.

We were very lucky to have beautiful sunny weather and hearty food to keep us going. Many thanks to the staff who attended and the students for behaving well and making the most of all the opportunities they had to make new friends and become familiar with their teachers.
