Middle School

From the Head of Middle School

Welcome back to the new term. I have already heard some great stories of students catching fish (including barramundi and spangled emperor), sporting accomplishments, working on farms and relaxing at home. It is great to see students back and socialising with their friends and getting stuck into their studies. This term we will spend some time working with Middle School students on their organisational skills and study techniques.

This week, 16 Middle School leaders attended a leadership conference at the Albany Entertainment Centre. This was an energetic conference designed to improve their leadership skills, share their thoughts and ideas and embrace bringing others on board with new initiatives. We look forward to seeing what ideas will develop from the conference.

A reminder about communication with the school. If you have a concern about an academic subject area, then please contact the teacher directly. If it is a pastoral concern then the best person to contact is the Homeroom teacher, followed by the Head of Year. Email is usually the best way to contact staff as they may not be available when you ring.

Have a great term.

Middle School Leadership Conference

On Wednesday, the Year Nine leaders attended the GRIP Leadership conference sponsored by Edith Cowan University, at the Albany Entertainment Centre. We, along with leaders from other schools, were involved in an interactive and practical talks from the team at GRIP leadership.

The aim of this conference was to expand our ideas and improve our skills around the concept of leadership, ready for the year ahead. This involved conversations throughout the day on a range of topics related to leadership. It equipped us with tips and skills to help us with different situations we will face throughout this year. We want to make sure that we are working hard to provide the Middle School with the best possible leadership by being inclusive and innovative. The conference gave us some great ideas to develop this year.
