Year 7 Music has been learning about instruments of the orchestra over the past term. Kildare is fortunate to have the means to form a College orchestra. Since 2018 we have provided nearly 800 Year 7 students with the opportunity to play a musical instrument in an orchestra setting.  Our dedicated instrumental students provide the new Year 7's with a rich experience of music making by performing alongside and mentoring their younger peers on our biannual orchestra day. The Year 7 Orchestra Experience is an invitation to all Year 7's to consider a unique learning opportunity at Kildare. String, woodwind and brass tuition is provided free as part of the College instrumental program.  A growing number of students in our chamber and wind ensembles began learning an instrument when they came to Kildare and it is never too late to start.

Learning an instrument and playing in an ensemble requires commitment and discipline. It promotes motor planning, logical thinking, problem solving and an appreciation for beauty. Ensembles teach students to work as a team and be accountable to each other and performing provides an exhilarating challenge and a sense of deep satisfaction when done well. Speak with either Mr Thompson or Mr Chaston about opportunities for learning an orchestral instrument at Kildare and being part of our fantastic ensembles.
