The lamp unit focuses on the application of Adobe Illustrator skills combined with introductory woodworking techniques in the design and production of a quality timber lamp.
Students have developed knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and properties of a range of materials through research, experimentation and practical investigation. They have drawn information from the investigation of innovative lamp designs Australia wide.
Lighting or illumination is the deliberate use of light to achieve a practical or aesthetic effect. Lighting includes the use of both artificial light sources like lamps and light fixtures, as well as natural illumination by capturing daylight.
Interior lighting is usually accomplished using light fixtures and is a key part of successful interior design.
Students have learnt to creatively use Adobe Illustrator for their design, incorporating timber framing to complete their individual project for Term 1.
All classes involved in this project have developed their own individual skills and knowledge with software. The practical application of wiring and woodwork techniques has added a further dimension to the project.
My congratulations Year 8…….well done!
