Senior School

A great many of our students enjoyed their Semi-Finals and Finals on the sporting field (or court) this week, with some outstanding wins to wrap up the Summer Sport Season. Well done to all our Summer teams and of course to their hard-working Masters in Charge and Coaches. We are blessed with deeply committed staff here at BMGS, without whom the outstanding co-curricular program would not be possible. Equally, our Mock Court Team on their very first try came away with a win, but more importantly a great deal of learning about the courts and the legal process. Well done to all involved.

Our year of Blue Mountains Debating also kicked off this week, with our older teams beaming in victory and our youngest teams enjoying a great deal of learning about how to structure more powerful arguments. Their reflections upon arriving back at School for afternoon classes were profound. Parents watch out!

Whether in victory or learning, our students displayed exceptional sportspersonship and grew in both their character and in their capacity in recent days. Well done on a great week.

We are immensely proud of the achievements of our students on the sporting field, in academia and in all our many co-curricular activities. It gives us particular pride, however, when our students reach out to the community and serve. Our MacLaurin House Captain, Rosie, recently gave a presentation at the Lower Mountains Rotary Club on the importance of community service, which was very well received

On a more practical note, would parents and carers please review their children’s uniforms and other equipment provided for their School education and encourage them to visit Lost Property to claim items. Our lost property cupboard is full to overflowing with sports jackets and uniforms, school shoes (what are they wearing?), books and textbooks, blazers, sneakers, reading glasses (how are they reading the board?), calculators, a large number of locker keys, and even an iPhone. The vast majority of lost property unfortunately has no name and much of it has been held since the end of last year. We have placed many of the items on a table in Senior School Reception to encourage those who are missing items to stop and check. Please note that at the end of term, for the sake of space, we will be donating school uniform gear in reasonable condition back to the Uniform Shop. Non-uniform items will be donated to charity where suitable.
