Cross Country Carnival

We held the Junior School Cross-Country Carnival last Friday, 12th March. The day was perfect for running long distances. It was a little bit wet but not too hot so we stayed nice and cool.

Our whole class participated in the events. Mikhaela, Robert, Rose and William ran for Ziele Pitt, Lucas and Zoe ran for MacLaurin Kelley and Levi and Nelson ran for Hughes Deane.

Lucas came first, Thomas and Rose came third and Levi came fourth. Rose, Levi, Thomas, and William made the HICES team and will be competing against other schools when we host the carnival.

It was great seeing how supportive the crowd was when we ran our races. There were lots of war cries and cheering as we started our races and when we crossed the finish line.

The carnival was won by Ziele Pitt with MacLaurin Kelly coming second and Hughes Deane coming third.

Our season has now concluded for the Red Rockets and the Golden Stars. They will be playing a ‘friendly’ game on Friday in their normal training session to end their season. The Slam Dunks gave it their all but were not able to progress to the Finals. We wish the girls all the best as some of them will now continue their basketball journey with the ISA competition in the Senior School.

The Dream Team and the Flames have now made it into the Semi-Finals. If you are free on Friday at 5:30pm, come and support the boys. The Flames will be playing on Saturday at 11:30 so come along and cheer them into the Grand Final.

HICES Swimming Report

Last Monday our HICES representatives went to the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. We had a successful day out, finishing second in both the percentage shield and the points shield. We will be sending Lucas Rutherford and Noah Erne off to CIS. We swam in great Spirit, and we wish our CIS representatives great luck in their forthcoming races.
