Melbourne Youth Leadership Conference

by Ella Dridan

Student leaders, Jack Peacock, Luke Arvidson, Liam McLinden, Jaelyn Brand and Naomi Gerrard ventured to Melbourne on Wednesday the 28th of April. The day began with a team building exercise in the car, as traffic chaos extended our travel time, when a truck carrying toilet paper caught on fire on the Western Freeway. The leaders finally reached their destination in the city to engage in Youth Leadership Academy Australia’s Youth Leadership Conference.

The students listened to many young leaders who have become entrepreneurs through self-belief and determination. The students absorbed information on how one can lead, tips for public speaking, effective communication, how to make change, and the pathway to becoming an entrepreneur. The day had two breaks where students could explore the city and find sustenance to invigorate their brains.

It was a great day for our school leaders to gain a few helpful tips to enhance their leadership skills, and further their positive contributions to the school. It will be great to see some of them in action!
