In an effort to further improve our school and grounds, Hands on Learning students (pictured above) have been practicing their mozaic skills. The students have been decorating new bench seats using mozaic tiles and have also created a new sign for their Hands on Learning workspace (see top).

Shave for a Cure Update

In the previous issue we featured an article on Dani Talbett and her participation in the World's Greatest Shave, "Shave for a Cure" fundraiser. We are thrilled to announce that the grand total raised was $1038. This is an outstanding act of selflessness on Dani's part and we are extremely proud of her efforts, as she should be.

"Thursday 27th of April, Katelyn Prior, Shiann Talbett and I, Dani Talbett, all participated in this year’s World’s Greatest Shave fundraising efforts towards Cancer research, in order to make younger generations aware of how cancer effects families and communities. After a lot of organising and preparing, along with the towns and schools help, we managed to raise a total of $1038, which was well over our limit of $350. On the day, students and teachers all had the chance to donate a dollar coin and cut off a piece of my hair" - Dani Talbett

Easter Raffle

Last term the SRC held an Annual Easter Raffle to raise money towards the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children's Hospital. All of the prizes were thoughtfully donated by Ryan's Supa IGA in Beaufort. We really appreciate their assistance and have written a letter of thanks.

In total we raised a whopping $127 dollars for a great cause. Congratulations to the winners in each form group, we hope you enjoyed your delicious chocolates!

Thanks also to the rest of the SRC team for putting it all together. -Fletcher Holz, SRC Secretary.

Drawing Club

Drawing Club is back! Every Monday lunchtime during Term 2 students are welcome to join Ms McGregor in the Art room for Drawing Club. This is a great opportunity for students of all year levels to interact creatively together with a common interest by exploring and sharing new ideas, develop their techniques and skills and building new friendships along the way.

Work Skills

B.S.C. student Campbell Corbett has been offered the opportunity to gain some valuable work experience as a grounds keeper at The Beaufort Golf Club. For two days each week, Campbell will have the chance to learn various new skills, including the methods surrounding the reconstruction of the new bowling green, machinery maintenance, greens keeper, and the safe use of all equipment.

This experience will not only provide Campbell with useful work skills, it will give him the chance to develop a good work ethic for future roles.

B.S.C., along with Campbell, would like to thank The Beaufort Golf Club for creating the opportunity and Ian Trigg and Ian Bradshaw for their work behind the scenes to bring it all together.
