“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and will be repaid in full”

Proverbs 19:17

Hi Marian Community,

I hope that this past fortnight has been a pleasant one full of enjoyable and uplifting experiences.

Our College Faith and Service community has been flourishing with many of our students participating in various opportunities that are regularly made available to them. The increased assistance has been valuable particularly for Carevan, emptying the plastic bottle recycling cages, lunch order distributions and the radio club. Witnessing these students within our College taking an active approach shows that they are truly living our College motto; The Way, The Truth, The Life.

As I mentioned in my previous newsletter article, our College service project is the creation of the I-Care Kits. So far, many students have begun to bring their items to school to contribute to the creation of the I-Care Kits. After two weeks of collection, we have already had enough items brought in to begin assembling, with four kits already complete. With that said, we have a goal of creating fourty I-Care Kits this term and without the full support of the Marian Community, this cannot be achieved.

The following items are the required items for donation per year group:

I-Care Kits 2021

Females

Males

Year 7

Toothpaste

Toothbrush

Year 8

Shampoo

Conditioner

Year 9

Facecloth

Bar of soap

Year 10

Deodorant (Male)

Year 11

Moisturizer (eg tube of sorbolene)

Small hand sanitizer

Year 12

Feminine hygiene products

(tampons, sanitary pads etc)

Hair brush or comb

Please remember to  submit all items to your homeroom teachers in the morning during Homeroom periods. Members from the Community Action Team will be visiting Homerooms every morning as of next week to collect items that have been donated.

On the 27th of May, our College will be hosting a Biggest Morning Tea in order to support Cancer Council Australia in their research to battle against cancer. The Community Action Team will be providing a cupcake store, with all funds collected going towards our College total for MCC’s Biggest Morning Tea. As I mentioned in my previous article, the preparations for NAIDOC week are well underway. I am seeking interest from students within our College who wish to be part of bringing NAIDOC week to life to make contact with me.

Finally I made mention of the plastic bottle recycling bins around the College. Over the past few weeks, we have noticed a few items that are not recyclable items making their way into these bins. Please remember that these cages are NOT rubbish bins. Our maintenance men have provided many rubbish bins around our College for rubbish to go into. We understand that mistakes happen, but if we could work towards this as a College community, it would make the collection process much easier for our volunteer members.

Acceptable items are:

  • Water bottles
  • Milk bottles
  • Cans
  • Juice boxes

Marian as always, you have been sensational in giving back to the community over the past few weeks. Let’s continue to support each other, foster our strengths and grow as people living a life as the Lord intended for us. A life of love for all creation.

Thank you and have a blessed week.
