Principal News

Hail Mary,

full of grace, the Lord is with thee;

blessed art thou amongst women,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

In the Catholic Church, May is known as Month of Mary

Catholics do not worship Mary, rather we can think deeply about the qualities of her selfless, courageous acceptance of the task to be the Mother of God in the birth of her son Jesus. While she has a somewhat low profile in the Gospels, her words there still resonate with us today and challenge us to follow her example of humility, obedience, and service to God.

The Marist Brothers have as a foundation pillar of the living out the Marist Mission an understanding of “In the Way of Mary”.  As His first follower, Mary inspires our faith in Jesus. Mary responded with “yes” to the path God had chosen for her, and our staff and students are encouraged to be open to God’s plan for them in a similar way.

In all that we do, we associate ourselves with Mary so as to bring Jesus to birth in the hearts of young people: ”All to Jesus through Mary, All to Mary for Jesus”.

The Sisters of Mercy also chose Mary as their Patron of the Order. Mary’s life was full of courage and devotion, a life of robust faith. The Mercy Sisters are women of action and they urge us to also be like Mary, a person of strength and humility, ever ready to reach out to others in need.

Today we celebrate Marian Catholic College Founders Day and we remember the legacy left by the contribution of the Marist Brothers and Mercy Sisters in all of us at the College today. The common link of Mary, Mother of God is identified in our Vision Statement. Marian Catholic College is a vibrant faith community engaging with Jesus and His message. Embracing Mary’s courageous acceptance, we fulfil Christ’s promise of “The Way, The Truth and The Life” in a dynamic and diverse learning environment.

                                                                         Happy Founder’s Day 2021

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Quite a bit has been happening over the past few weeks at the College and this newsletter is full of interesting areas of College life. The 2021 student photos ran smoothly last Tuesday and we expect them to be available by the end of this term. NAPLAN 2021 is being held over this week and next. So far there have been no technical problems. Good luck to all Year 7 and 9 next week. NAPLAN catch-up days are 17, 20 and 20 May (if needed).

Uniform supply is now becoming available. Girls skirts have arrived. Other items on back order will be here shortly and parents will be notified soon afterwards.

After the Founder’s Day Mass, whilst everyone was together in the Marcellin Hall, the Annual Athletics Carnival results were handed out. Congratulations to Champion team McAuley House for winning the 2021 Athletics shield.

Age Champions and more details are in this newsletter. My thanks to Mrs Patten and staff for running a successful carnival and to representatives of Griffith Little Athletics for their help on the day.

Founder’s Day Mass was also the appropriate moment to acknowledge Years of Service Certificates to staff at Marian. Collecting accurate records of years of service going back to the 1970’s has been very difficult and accuracy has been near to impossible!

Congratulations and thanks to the following staff
