NAIDOC week
John Fawkner College is on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri tribe, part of the Kulin Nation (Victoria). We acknowledge that we come together to teach and learn from one another at John Fawkner College which lies on traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people. We pay respects to their elders; past, present and emerging.
NAIDOC stands for 'National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee'. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all people to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) culture, history and achievements.
This year's theme for NAIDOC week is Always was, Always will be.
This celebrates the ongoing custodianship that the ATSI people have upheld for over 60,000 years. They are the oldest continuing culture on Earth.
