Year 11 & 12

Welcome all to another issue on the JFC newsletter. As the year is coming to an end, this means that our VCE classes are quickly coming to a close. I just wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate all senior students on making it through such a difficult year in one of the most challenging stages of their lives. I am so proud of you all and wish you all of the best with your future endeavours.

Celebration Day

On Friday the 30th of October, the year 12 students spent the morning celebrating their final moments at JFC. It was a Halloween themed day, so it was nice to see so many students getting into the Halloween spirit and participating in different activities. The students and teachers enjoyed a lovely breakfast, and also had the opportunity to parade around the school in the costumes for one last time. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff and students who were involved in making the day special, and I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to the class of 2020 and all they have achieved this year.

Year 12 Awards/Graduation

Given the circumstances with COVID-19 at the moment, it is with excitement and enthusiasm that I can announce that year 12 students will be able to celebrate their successes at the end of the year. On Friday the 11th of December, JFC will be hosting it's very own graduation and awards afternoon/evening for year 12 students and staff onsite in the learning centre. More information and invitations about this event will be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. I am so excited to celebrate with the year 12 students and look forward to this day. Unfortunately, parents and friends will not be able to attend the event, however we are working on getting the event live streamed for everyone to view at home. Once again, details for this will come out in the coming weeks.

Year 11 exams

Year 11 exams will be taking place next week in the sports complex from Wednesday the 18th until Friday the 20th of November. Can students please ensure that they check their timetables and prepare accordingly for their exams. Good luck to you all!

Year 12 VCE orientation program

At the beginning of week 8, all year 12 VCE students will be participating in an orientation program to assist them before the commencement of 2021. All students are required to attend as this will give them a head start for unit 3 for all of their subjects, and they will also be receiving holiday homework for all of their classes to complete over the break. This is to ensure all students are prepared to commence year 12 in 2021. This program will conclude on Friday the 27th of November, which will be the final day for year 11 students. For VCAL students, there will be no structured orientation program. They can use this time to complete any outstanding work for teachers. If VCAL students have completed all the necessary work for this year, they are not required to attend during week 8.

That's all from the Senior School for this month, I hope everyone is enjoying their new freedom since the COVID-19 restrictions have been eased. I'll leave this issue with a quote from one of my favourite actors specifically for the year 12s leaving us this year...

"Don't let anyone ever make you feel like you don't deserve what you want." - Heath Ledger
