Year 9 & 10

Back to School

Welcome back to our next installment of the JFC Newsletter, I look forward to reporting back to you all on the progress of our year 9 and 10 students. Term 4 has been an exciting time, with all classes back running at school. It has been amazing to move around the school and see the excitement and enthusiasm that many students have come back in site with.

With classes back to normal (or a new version or normal), I have had the pleasure of stepping into every year 9 and 10 class and seeing the work that is being done. Most notably, it has been great to see students interacting with one another face to face, rather than online. I think we can all appreciate the value of being back at school and hopefully the remote learning is behind us.

We have certainly learnt so much this year about students and staff and their resilience in the remote learning environment. Most notably it has been great to see everyone being able to adapt to using online platforms. Many teachers have continued to use some of these programs and strategies since being back at school, it is great to see. I encourage all students to continue to bring a charged device to class.

Other notable things that are returning are indoor and outdoor sport and recreation activities, external providers running programs and the return of the MCCF training. These have certainly been missed this year, we look forward to continuing to provide opportunities in this space and hopefully can get back to excursions and camps before long.

This is a very interesting time, especially for year 10 students who start to choose pathways and careers they wish to focus on in their senior secondary education. I encourage people to speak with teachers and coordinators, including Kathy in the career office regarding this. Year 9 students are also choosing their electives so this time can be very important in setting up for 2021.

Thanks to all those who have come back to school ready to learn and focusing on reaching their potential in an otherwise disrupted year. As always please get in touch with me regarding all things middle school. Have a great term 4 and we will be back to you with further updates soon.
