Each fortnight we feature mini staff bios to help our community get to know more about the dedicated staff team we have at Surf Coast Secondary College. This week is our Principal team.
Please note: our Assistant Principal Andrew Brown will feature in the next edition.

What Role Do You Have At SCSC?
I am the Acting Principal role at Surf Coast Secondary College this semester. When I am not at Surf Coast, I am the Campus Principal at Williamstown High School. I have been the Campus Principal for the past six years and without a doubt enjoyed every minute of it and now at Surf Coast that energy and excitement has reignited in a special way.
What subjects do you teach?
I teach students and I love to work with young people to challenge and support them. Like many secondary school teachers, we have specific subjects of passion, interest and knowledge. I am no different and I studied at the University of Ballarat to become a Health, Physical Education and Outdoor Education Teacher. Over the years, I have taken every opportunity to enhance, expand and enrich my capacity in not only this realm, but also in Food Technology, Literacy and Inquiry Based Curriculum's.
Why do you love working at SCSC?
I wanted to join and lead the Surf Coast Secondary College community if only for a short period of time because I felt as though I could make a difference and value add to an already very impressive learning community. I love the fact that all staff at the school are providing the opportunities for students to find the best version of themselves.
What did you do before teaching?
In some way, I feel like have never actually left school, rather reinvented my journey through school. I have been teaching and learning in secondary schools for the past twenty two years, seventeen of them in leadership positions. As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be involved in sport and ideally, a PE teacher. My education and tertiary degree, opened so many doors and provided opportunities that were exciting, stimulating and non-restrictive. Without my teaching and education, I would not have been exposed to the leadership development, international work and travel opportunities.
