IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Students in College Uniform
A reminder to families that when students are wearing our College Formal Uniform, they are representing our College and community (even outside of school hours). We have had calls from members of our community saying they have seen our students leaving rubbish and behaving irresponsibly in particular locations. We want to support our students to be the best they can be and represent our school with pride.
Derived Examination Score
Students who are ill or affected by other personal circumstances at the time of a Year 12 subject's exam and where the exam result is unlikely to be a fair indication of their learning because of these circumstances, may apply for a Derived Examination Score (DES). If their application is approved, a DES will be calculated by the VCAA.
The purpose of a DES is to ensure that a student’s final result for an exam reflects as accurately as possible the level of achievement that would be expected based on the learning and achievement the student has demonstrated in the study over the year.
A DES is not used to compensate for learning or achievement that has not been possible because of long-term illness or other ongoing conditions, including the impact of COVID-19, that have been present over the year. Students who experience the onset of an illness or the occurrence of an injury or personal trauma around an assessment period should discuss an application for Emergency Special Examination Arrangements with myself, which may help them sit their VCE exams. This year, any students who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms at the time of their exam, they should not attend the exam but instead get tested and stay home until they receive their results. Students in this situation will be eligible to apply for a DES.
For any queries regarding Emergency Special Exam Arrangements or Derived Exam Scores, please contact Kath our Assistant Prcinipal as soon as possible at Kathryn.ONeill@education.vic.gov.au.
Face Masks in School
Students 12 years and older in secondary school are required to wear face mask while at school and while travelling to and from school.
We ask families to please provide a fresh reusable/disposable mask for their child to wear each day.
A face mask that covers the nose and mouth is now the only permitted type of face covering. Scarves or bandannas do not meet these requirements, snoods are ok as long as they are tight fitting. A face mask provides protection when physical distance cannot be maintained. In this situation a face mask together with standard precautions, including hand hygiene, are important for infection control. Students should practice physical distancing where possible.
Remembrance Day - Wednesday 11 November
On 11th November each year, we pause for one minute of silence to remember those who have served and died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. This year has been like no other in living memory for Australia and the world and we may also choose to reflect on the unexpected roles that that our current serving men and women are performing in support of our efforts against COVID-19. As we draw together as a community in 2020 to face unforeseen challenges, I also invite you to remember another time when Australians faced enormous challenges and great adversity. Almost a million Australians served during the Second World War and millions more contributed to the war effort on the home front. This year, we have commemorated the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, a war that changed Australia as we knew it.
