Year 7 News

As the end of the school year is fast approaching, we are all working hard to ensure that students are keeping up to date as best they can and we appreciate parent support.

Our focus during Year 7 level assemblies over the next few weeks will be on Respectful Relationships and readjusting to “normal” secondary school life. The students did work on this during the FRIENDS program very early on in the year but unfortunately the prolonged absences from “normal” school has meant that they have not been able to practice the theory over a sustained period of time.

Week 9 (beginning Monday 30th November) is the start of our Transition Program into Year 8 2021. During this time the students will get to meet their Year 8 teachers and begin work in their Year 8 subject areas. No Year 8 textbooks will be required.

As always, stay safe and feel free to contact us.

Year 8 News

We cannot express how happy we are to hear the sound of students in the hallways and out in the yard. Students have done so well in their online learning and we are very proud of the way they have persisted with this. I am sure they now appreciate being at school so much more.

We are still in masks and distancing as best we can, as you can see by the picture of our classes and year level assembly on Webex. Our school captains welcomed them back and informed them of upcoming events.

Welcome back.

Year 9 News

Thanks to all the Year 9s and their families for all your work and support in 2020. This will be the last newsletter from us as coordinators.

A point of focus for us in term 4 is the importance of respect and appropriate behaviour online. We will continue to promote this at school, and for the greatest effect we need your collaboration from home as well. Students need to be aware that what they say online can and does affect others.

Farewell to the following students leaving us in 2021, you’ll be missed by the teachers just as much as by your friends:

  • Ella Carmeli-Wolski
  • Ines Gotmaker
  • Cameron McCutcheon
  • Armand Goupil
  • Iliya Zolatarev
  • Ben Lin
  • Zac Palatsides

All the best for the next steps in your education.

If I forgot anyone I’m sorry, you’ll have to let us know that you’re leaving!

Uniform: Many students came back to school with bigger feet and their old school shoes didn’t fit. That was absolutely okay, but we need students to have new school shoes as soon as possible. Apart from that, our Year 9s should think about how much jewellery they are allowed to wear as well.

Make sure that you finish up all your schoolwork in the next 2 weeks, and keep talking with your teachers if you need extra help. Transition starts on 30th November, so be ready to start your Year 10 work. Come to school as normal from Monday 30th November for those two weeks.

All the best, we’ve had a great time with you all this year (whatever we spent at school!). Have fun in Year 10!
