A huge welcome back to everyone for another edition of our newsletter. It is already Week 6 in Term 4 - how quickly the time flies! The sun is getting warmer and the 3/4's are continuing to thrive. We are still continuing to encourage all 3/4 students to keep striving towards their goals.

Reading & Writing
In Writing, students have been looking at persuasive writing. Emotive language has been the big focus, where students had to identify specific words/images that stimulated positive and negative emotional reactions.
In Reading, students have continued to revise skills such as summarising, making connections and inferring. They have been using reading comprehension cubes in groups to practise speaking and listening skills.
Over the last week few weeks, students have also revisited the skill of questioning, where they posed an open-ended question before, during and after reading a text. These open-ended question cards were also used when students recorded their wondering questions for their Writer's Notebook.
Mathematics
In Maths this fortnight, we have been looking at representing data in graphs. The students have revised how to ask deeper level questions to investigate something, rather than "What is your favourite...?" After they have represented their data in a graph, they then have been going to the next step which is the analysis of the data - what does the graph show? What are the trends? Why do you think these trends exist?
We will continue to graph data, but our questioning will be moving towards 'Chance'.
Goal Setting
Students continue to set goals in all areas of the curriculum. A big focus this term has been setting developmental goals in the developmental domains (social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language). On their focus child day, students set goals during their teacher-student conference sessions.
Religious Education/Wellbeing
During our lessons, students are working together in completing tasks that enable them to identify good choice-making and help them build upon their relationship with God and others.
Year 4 students will prepare for and celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Students will prepare for First Eucharist by understanding the symbols and rituals of the Mass, the connection between the two and actively participate in ‘working masses’.
Reminder: Year 4 Parent & Child Information Evening for Sacramental Program Thursday 12th November @ 5 pm via Zoom. The zoom link will be posted on Thursday via skoolbag.
