Mini Vinnies
As many of you are aware our school supports the Mini Vinnies program. Mini Vinnies is a program designed by the St. Vincent de Paul Society that assists members of our community who are in need of assistance. Mini Vinnies empowers primary school students to become advocates within their school and local community by putting their values into action. They meet regularly to learn about social justice issues, develop leadership skills and engage with the wider St Vincent de Paul Society.
Next week those children who are interested in finding out more will have the opportunity to meet and learn about Mini Vinnies. Those children interested will then have the opportunity to join Mini Vinnies and be active participants in the program.
Pentecost
Some say that Pentecost marks the beginning of our modern day church. Jesus gives us his spirit, the gift of his spirit, so that we may be energised to bring the love, joy, peace and forgiveness of Jesus; spirit to all people.
Feast of the Sacred Heart - Giving Mass
The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a time for us think about the deep love and compassion that Jesus has for all people, especially the poor and the suffering in our world.
Our prayer is for us to love like Jesus; to be more generous and kind in our loving…and make it real.
With this feast, we have a special drive to collect non-perishable food and clean second hand clothing items to give St Vincent De Paul in our Parish. These groceries are then distributed to needy people in our local community.
Can you spare an item?
If so, send it along with your child over the next three weeks and we’ll arrange collection….Be a Mini Vinnie! All donations due by Thursday 27th June.
The Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass also sees the commissioning of our new Mini Vinnie members.
