Secondary Year 12

Sydney Educational Tour

In Week 3, Year 12 students and six staff met early at Melbourne Airport, excited to head off on our trip to Sydney.  Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, our original flight was cancelled and we were all to travel to Sydney on three separate flights – one of these was via the Gold Coast!  It is not easy when plans change and our students accepted this change to their travel plans easily and saw it as an adventure.   With only a couple of hours lost, the group all met up in Darling Harbour.

This trip to Sydney aimed to provide students with an experience of a lifetime; their last school camp with their friends and a chance to visit one of Australia’s largest cities.  For many students this was their first time on an aeroplane!  The group stayed at the YHA The Rocks, a location close to Sydney Harbour with an amazing view of the Opera House and Sydney Habour Bridge from the terrace.  Our itinerary ensured that we enjoyed many must-do experiences:

  • Darling Harbour Aquarium;
  • Cockatoo Island Convict tour;
  • Tour of the Sydney Opera house;
  • Sydney Observatory;
  • Seeing Sunrise being filmed;
  • Bondi Beach (spotting some of the lifeguards from Bondi Rescue!);
  • Sydney Tower;
  • Taronga Zoo; and
  • Using public transport including ferries, double-decker trains and buses
