Battle of the Bands
Brilliant Performances at Battle of the Bands
Well done to all our year Five and Six students who gave stellar performances at Battle of the Bands yesterday afternoon. We had everything from outstanding group and solo instrumental, vocal and dance routines. The students had prepared themselves well in class sessions diligently learning notes, rhythms, melodies and even harmonies. Lunch and recess times in the last two weeks have seen countless dance troupes from each class practising their routines. Many students had only started to learn their instrument this term, particularly those who played drums, guitars, bass or keyboards. It was a great display of persistence and confidence.
Extra Special Thanks
Many thanks to Ian Wilding, Dave Cooper-Powell, Regan Forde, Anna Womersley, Jo Anderson and David Cosma who helped with setting up and support with tuning of instruments and sound engineering. Special thanks to Liz Bonetti who takes care of sheet music and strings and my sanity! Thank you also to Shane and Tanya Slaviero-Pascoe for providing video support – they have already delivered to me a copy of the video complete with titles and editing. Classes who could not stay for the entire concert will be able to view the performances next week in Music sessions. Finally, I have had a wonderful ex-student in Elijah Spiers-Bridge from Fitzroy High School helping this week. He’s been a great support to me and the students.
I will be asking students to write a report on the event – I hope to post a few of their comments next week.
Kind regards,
Marie Morrow
