The letter

After receiving a Notice of Motion to investigate parking and traffic conditions around Ivanhoe Primary School a report was considered by Council at its meeting on 1 December 2014 to assess the matter. At the meeting Council resolved in part to allocate funding to the installation of a rounded cul-de-sac in Ailsa Grove, at the Tate Street closure point, in a future capital works program.

As a result, funding has been proposed for the construction of this project in the draft budget of the Council’s Capital Works Program for 2019/20.

The proposal is expected to improve vehicular movement and pedestrian safety at the location, by allowing for motorists to turn around in one forward manoeuvre. Under this arrangement, vehicles undertaking the ‘U-turn’ movement will need to give way to through traffic. Please refer to the attached concept design for your comments.

Whilst funding is pending approval by Council, it is considered beneficial to undertake community consultation and finalise design in advance, so that the project delivery can be progressed once funding is confirmed.
