Principal's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

HUGE SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR FOM VOLUNTEERS!

On the weekend our FOM Volunteers have gone above and beyond the level of commitment and support of mere mortal mums and dads, because they ran another fundraiser sausage sizzle to raise money for all the students at Maramba.

After the election day Car wash and BBQ last weekend from 8am to 4:30pm they were at it again at Bunnings Fountain Gate from 8am – 5pm. Another massive effort by all who volunteered to get behind the school fundraiser.

Organising and running a sausage sizzle is not as simple as throwing a few snags on the BBQ. Our family volunteers give a lot of time and effort behind the scenes even before one of those little Aussie sausages are devoured by satisfied customers.

On behalf of the Maramba students, staff and community, I would like to thank and applaud you all for being simply amazing and volunteering your valuable weekend family time for the benefit of our school community with an amazing $1,137.06 raised at the Bunnings BBQ.

VISUAL ARTS

I have really enjoyed being a part of the Maramba school community again and teaching Visual Arts. It has been amazing to see how much the senior students have advanced in their artistic skills and to build new relationships with the junior students and observe all their wonderful talents and skills.

Visual Arts in Foundation has focused on fine motor skills and creating artwork with multiple materials. Students have been practising mark making, cutting, scrunching, tearing, sticking and modelling objects with play dough. They have created rainbow fish artwork, frogs in the pond paper construction and painted landscapes.

Visual Arts in year 1 and 2 has focused on revisiting activities that will further enhance fine motor skills and build new understandings. Students are observing the artwork of Artists and reflecting on how those impact on the work they are creating. They are working on colour theory and how colour can be used to portray emotions and enhance the outcome of a finished product.

Visual Arts in years 3 and 4 is focusing on paper construction with mixed materials, building up observation skills and adding details to artwork and the various art styles of famous Artists. Students are discussing the intended meaning of art pieces and how colour, line, shape and balance have been used to capture the audience attention.

In years 5 and 6 students are focusing on enhancing their fine art and design skills. They are working on water colour painting, fine art sketching, hyper realistic drawing and sculpture modelling with wire. Students are encouraged to be innovative, use their imagination and observation skills and to reflect on the work produced and edit where needed.

Kind regards,
