Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

School will close for the July Break on Friday and will reopen again on Tuesday 19 July for students. Staff will return on Monday 18 July for Professional Learning sessions.

SWIMMING.

Swimming for years 4-6 will commence on the first Wednesday back. It will be held at State Swim in East Fremantle. Commencing week 5 there will be lessons for students in PP-Year 3, also at State Swim.

CONGRATULATIONS.

Congratulations to Mrs Foster for her organisation of the School Cross Country event. The weather was very kind to us this year! Congratulations to the place getters and everyone who attempted the school circuits. The support that the students gave each other was great to see. The Interschool Cross Country carnival will be held on Thursday 4 August.

Congratulations to our Winter sports teams. White Gum Valley retained the SOCCER shield as well as the A and B Division NETBALL shields. Our FOOTBALL team came a close second, beating the team who eventually won overall. The spirit in which our students played the games was commented on by several of the umpires/referees. Well done White Gum!

Classes have been involved with NAIDOC Week activities which culminated in a very informative assembly put together by Mr Truong and Room 3. Thank you for your support of the Noongar choir and workshop earlier in the week.

As part of our school ‘Your Move’ initiative the student team helped secure a free bike check and service for the last day of term. This is the third time that the school has put on the event. This time around the focus was on bikes from years 4-6.

Faction points have been gradually building. These are points that students receive through our ROS cards given out at recesses and during class times. The next goal is to reach enough points for extra recess time. This will be achieved early next term.

FREO BUILDS TRAIL.

Please go online to receive a free ticket to this student event, organised by the Fremantle Council.

There is also a Lego exhibition where 6 finalists are having their Lego design built by Lego masters. You can then vote for your favourite. Of the six student finalists, White Gum Valley has two of them.  Get along and vote for Aria and Orlando’s models if you are in Fremantle during the Bb

The gates to enter onto the school buildings will be locked during the holidays but the gates to the oval on Watkins and Wood street will be open for accessing the oval. Please contact Education Security if you notice any antisocial behaviour on 1800177777. The courts will be closed as some work is being undertaken there.

Thank you for your support during a busy term with COVID19 interruptions.

Have a great Break with your family.
