Grade 3 - 4

Wow… what a busy few weeks it has been in the year 3/4 community. The year 3s have officially finished NAPLAN, and they did such an amazing job! They definitely earned those yummy hot chips… well done Year 3s.
Furthermore, last week the year 4s went on their first camp at Grayling Primary School. They attended the Victorian Blue Light Camp in Maldon, which is about 2 and half hours away. It was a bit cold, especially during the early mornings and night, but all students were rugged up and braved the freezing conditions. All students had an amazing time at camp, especially with the amount of food they ate over the three days. They all had a ball participating in all the activities, this included; bike riding, hiking, bouldering, archery, mini golf and gathering around the warm camp fire toasting marshmallows. We were very impressed with the behaviour of the all the students at camp. Well done on your very first camp year 4’s.
Reading
Students have been busy with developing their knowledge of learning about informative text. We have been diving into many informative books and identifying many text features. This includes titles, subtitles, captions, diagrams, maps, labels and many more. Ask your child to name a few, as they have been working very hard to remember many text features.
Writing
Its been great learning about text features in reading, as students are beginning to write their own information reports. Students have been going through books to help with their research. As always students have been focusing on planning before they begin to write their information reports. Students should know now the structure of how to set out their information report and have been eagerly excited to begin writing.
Maths
For the past two weeks, students have been working extremely hard on measurement. In particular, students have been extending their knowledge within length and area. Students have been creative by measuring many objects around the classroom, even measuring other students. All students have been working towards their learning goals. Keep up the great work.
